Automatic/Earthquake
Gas Shut Off Valve
Automatic/Earthquake
Gas Shut Off Valve: As of February
1998, "all commercial and residential
buildings (in Los Angeles County)
containing fuel gas piping shall
require the installation of an Earthquake/Automatic
Shut-Off Valve." (Ordinance 171,874
- Effective February 5, 1998; Ordinance
170,158 - Effective July 1, 1995).
This ordinance mandates that property
owners comply within 12 months.
If you havn't already complied you
are in violation of the ordinace
and could be held liable for associated
damages that may occur as a result
of not instaling the AGSV. Furthermore,
property owners cannot obtain building
permits or sell any property that
has not come in compliance with
the above Ordinance 171,874. Secure
It advises clients to note that
not all AGSV's and installations
are the same. Secure It offers a
lifetime warranty on both the valve
and the installation. We exceed
standard installations by (1) leveling,
bracketing and repainting the existing
meter & regulator in addition to
the new shut off valve, (2) supplying
the property with a secondary gas
feed during installation (eliminating
the need to re-light pilot lights
and be without gas during the installation)
and (3) taking care of all inspections/permits/fees
& paperwork related to documenting
compliance with the Department of
Building and Safety. At Secure It,
there are no hidden charges. Prices
include everything listed above
and work can be completed in 1-2
hours. Enigineering and technical
specifications availabale upon request.
